On 17th January 2023, The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) held its “Innovation & Technology Symposium 2023” at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Under the theme of “Innovating Zero”, the Symposium brought together global industry experts, business leaders, government officials and academic representatives to discuss the role of innovation in driving sustainability and re-industrialisation in the textile and fashion industry.Mr Will Lam, CEO and Managing Director of the High Fashion Group, who is also a member of the Board of Directors of HKRITA, was invited to speak in a pre-recorded presentation on the topic of innovative breakthroughs on sustainability in garment manufacturing. He remarked that the Symposium aims to inspire more industry leaders to invest in green innovations, reducing the overall energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions for a net zero future. The event underlined the importance of technologies and innovative applications in paving the way for a sustainable net-zero future, while preparing for the challenges in the new normal.“Silk Recycling into Non-woven Fabric For Garment Coat Application” Project SharingAlso, Mr Will Lam shared that High Fashion Group and HKRITA have launched the R&D project of “Silk Recycling into Non-woven Fabric For Garment Coat Application”, facilitating silk garment recycling and further promoting circular fashion. On 15th October 2022, High Fashion (China) Co., Ltd and Dongguan Dalisheng Fashion Co., Ltd under High Fashion Group were awarded the “Gold Certificate”from the“WWF Low Carbon Manufacturing Programme (LCMP)”. The companies have achieved high in carbon intensity reduction, greenhouse gas management and best practices in energy efficiency of manufacturing processes and operations!High Fashion Group has been dedicated to reducing carbon emissions generated by the manufacturing facilities, including all the energy and raw materials used. On 23rd November, High Fashion Group hosted a tour for a group of students studying the course on “Faculty of Design and Environment” in the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi, Member of the Vocational Training Council (VTC)) at WL District HK. High Fashion Group was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for Sharing Valuable Insights On Sustainable and Innovative Fashion To The StudentsDuring the 4-hour visit, the students had the opportunity to meet with High Fashion Group’s experienced Marketing Team, Digital Transformation Team and E-Commerce Team. The team heads delivered presentations on sustainable and innovative fashion, covering topics such ashow a garment manufacturing business works with a brandand how it runs byadapting different 3D design softwares,employing innovative marketing strategiesandimplementing sustainable practicesin the product development processes.High Fashion Group’s designer walked through the showroom with the students at WL District HKThe students spent a meaningful afternoon with the High Fashion Group as they have gained a deeper understanding of the main segments of a garment business, the global trends of sustainable and innovative fashion as well as the importance of sustainable development and digital transformation in the global garment and textile industries. On 3rd Nov 2022, the2022 Young Industrialist Awards of Hong Kong (YIAH)and Industrialist of the Year Award (IOY)hosted by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), was successfully held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). After extensive discussion, the judging panel selected Mr. Will Lam, Managing Director & CEO of High Fashion Group, to be one of the awardees of “2022 YIAH”. Mr. John Lee Kar-Chiu, Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government, was invited to serve as the guest of honor, award presenter and guest speaker to officiate the 2022 YIAH and IOY Presentation Ceremony. High Fashion Group used a special weaving technology to make a fabric that features one-way moisture transfer, moisture wicking and breathable, improving heat dissipation and increasing cooling sensation to prevent heat exhaustion and heatstroke.This fabric named “InResST® Nylon” is made with some biodegradable recycled fibers and yarns, it is free of toxic chemicals, reducing the persistence of synthetic microfiber pollution in the oceans and synthetic textile accumulation in the landfills. High Fashion Group at The Economist Impact's Sustainability Week Asia 2022 to lead Sustainability Initiative in the Fashion and Apparel Industry
On 16 th February 2022, Mr. Will Lam, Managing Director & CEO of High Fashion Group spoke virtually at the Economist Impact's Sustainability Week Asia 2022 (February 14th - 17th, 2022) as a sustainability leader in the fashion and apparel industry, sharing insights on how the industry can urgently act to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. The event was open to the public and approximately 4,100 people were in attendance.Under the theme of “Climate risk and biodiversity: Outlooks for textiles and clothing manufacturing”, Mr. Will Lam highlighted the key sustainability trends and goals towards a circular fashion economy based on four factors: digitalization, traceability, recycling and upcycling. He emphasized that global businesses should take the lead on sustainability in order to make green goods and services accessible to the consumer. By doing so, the ways of corporate decarbonisation can be divided into two aspects, upstream operations such as materials production, preparation and processing; downstream retail operations such as transport, packaging, retail operations and usage.
